This week we will study China's Opium War, Samuel Morse, the Alamo, industrial development, the growth of the U.S.A., the Mexican-American War, General Sam Houston, Arkansas, Michigan, Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Florida.  Also read about Kansas, West Virginia, Nevada, Elias Howe, Captain Sutter, and Nebraska.  Study about gymnosperm leaves, seedless vascular plants, magnets, fronds, tree ferns, methods of reproduction in trees, and life cycle of spores.

Kids did  a lot of reading and has improved so much this year, spelling, reading, and writing.

Worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication, angels, word problems, and review work.

Added Samuel Morse Invents the Telegraph 1844 to her timeline.

History 

Read about China's Opium War, Samuel Morse, the Alamo, industrial development, the growth of the U.S.A., the Mexican-American War, General Sam Houston, John Tyler, and William Henry Harrison.
















Science 

Read about Cones, Forest Fires, Berry-like cones, gymnosperm leaves, seedless vascular plants, fronds, tree ferns, life cycle of spores, methods of reproduction, and all about magnets.

Music/Video 

Listened to Schubert, Mendelssohn, and Chopin and reviewed more on each of them, and listened to "The Best of Tchaikovsky: The Sleeping Beauty". 

Field trip 

This week we went to Serenity Farm Virginia, owned by a lovely lady who has rescued all this wonderful animals.  









Conclusion 

This week we studied China's Opium War, Samuel Morse, the Alamo, industrial development, the growth of the U.S.A., the Mexican-American War, General Sam Houston, Arkansas, Michigan, Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, and Florida.  Also read about Kansas, West Virginia, Nevada, Elias Howe, Captain Sutter, and Nebraska.  Studied about gymnosperm leaves, seedless vascular plants, magnets, fronds, tree ferns, methods of reproduction in trees, and life cycle of spores. Ended the week going to a rescue farm with the kids, Ms. Joe the owner is amazing and so sweet.  The way she cares for the animals is so special.  Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.

This week we will learn about Jesus the Good Shepherd, Abraham Lincoln, Civil War, Mexican Independence, abolitionists, Africa, the trail of tears, Nat Turner, John Newton, John Quincy Adams, the city of Dolores, and the Zulu Kingdom.  Also read about the Boers and the British, the scramble for Africa, Andrew Jackson, Maine, Alabama, Illinois, and Missouri.  Study trees, growing outward, bark rubbing, gymnosperms, energy, forces, hot and cold, and gravity.

We read about Abraham Lincoln, the cry of Dolores, the Republic of Mexico, the work of the abolitionist, the Zulu Kingdom, the Boers and the British, the scramble of Africa, Illinois, Alabama, Maine, John Quincy Adams, Missouri, and Andrew Jackson.









Science 

Learned about trees growing outward, identification, bark rubbings, gymnosperms, gravity, and hot and cold.

In this DVD set there was a short clip on St. Patrick to go along with St. Patty's Day this week.

Listened to the story of Beethoven and watched a short clip about him on YouTube, also listened to "The Best of Tchaikovsky: Sleeping Beauty".

Field trip 


Enjoyed the great outdoors this week, thankfully we had wonderful weather and the kids got a lot of energy out.  Also enjoyed some delicious St. Patty cupcakes.
