MFW: CTG (4th and 8th Grade) Week 4

This week we will learn about farmers of the Nile Valley, unification of Egypt, work on the land, boats, Yom Kippur, pyramids, and Kings Menes.  Also will learn about geometric shapes, uncovering the past ancient Egypt, and the parts of a pyramid.

Worked on spelling, definition, comprehension, writing, and a lot of reading.

MATH

Kids worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and we also played SHUT the BOX, which is an addition game.

HISTORY

Read about farming on the Nile, looking at the Ancient world, fertile Nile River, Ancient Egypt, mummification influence of geography, work on land, boats and chariots, unification of the lower and upper Egypt, and King Menes.

SCIENCE

Learned all about pyramids, math of pyramids, shape, strength, the age of pyramids, and uncovering the past, Ancient Egypt.

FIELD TRIPS

Kids have grown so much with their music lessons, so proud of their hard work and dedication. 

Went to Harper's Ferry with the family and learned a lot of their history.

Also explored Shenandoah National Park, such a beautiful place to drive through and explore.

CONCLUSION

This week we read about farming on the Nile, looking at the Ancient world, fertile Nile River, Ancient Egypt, mummification influence of geography, work on land, boats and chariots, unification of the lower and upper Egypt, and King Menes.  Learned all about pyramids, math of pyramids, shape, strength, the age of pyramids, and uncovering the past, Ancient Egypt.  Ended the week going to Harper's Ferry with the family, learned a lot about their history, and explored new areas we hadn't seen since the last time we were there.  Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.

CONCLUSION

This week we read about societal development, the beginning of written history, the Ice Age, the Fertile Crescent, Noah, Tower of Babel, and the migration of Noah's descendants.  Learned and did some experiments about light that is reflected and absorbed, and energy conversion in Creation.  Ended the week going to Shepherd Field with our co-op to learn about aviation, kids really enjoyed it, and loved watching the planes take off.  Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
