 MFW: CTG (4th and 8th Grade) Week 7

This week we will learn about God's covenant with Abraham, Sarach, hieroglyphics, Abraham entertains visitors, Sodom, Issac is born, Hagar and Ishmael are sent away, and the ten commandments.  Also learn about the law of energy conservation, the light you don't see, papyrus, shading with line, and creating hieroglyphics.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Lots of reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension.  For some reason the rest of the pictures got deleted, not sure what happened.


MATH

Worked on addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fraction, and conversion.  More pictures missing due to them disappearing from my phone.

Read about Abram and God's call, the promise of a son, Abraham and God's covenant, hieratic, hieroglyphics, papyrus, and learned a new Greek word TROPOS: turning. 






SCIENCE

Learned more on the law of energy conservation, the light you don't see, visible light, infrared light, ultraviolet light, sunburn, papyrus, and did their names in hieroglyphics.

FIELD TRIPS

Went to the county fair with family, it was our first time going to this one since moving here 3 years ago.  Kids had fun, K was feeling sick (she had a cold) so we didn't stay as long as we thought we would, but overall everyone enjoyed themselves.

CONCLUSION

This wee we read about Abram and God's call, the promise of a son, Abraham and God's covenant, hieratic, hieroglyphics, papyrus, and learned a new Greek word TROPOS: turning.  Learned more on the law of energy conservation, the light you don't see, visible light, infrared light, ultraviolet light, sunburn, papyrus, and did their names in hieroglyphics.  Ended the week going to the county fair, now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.

Learned about the Toltecs, the Aztecs, modern pyramids, using pyramid shapes, build pyramids, study pyramids, chemistry, and crystals.

Family day at the church, the kids got to spend the worship service with me and then proceed to their classes.


Can't believe he is already 9 months old, love our little pony.

CONCLUSION

This week we read about North and South America, working with stones, the Mayan people, the city of Teotihuacan, fall of Ur, the Indus River Valley, the second Sumerian state, and the Sumerian society.  Learned about the Toltecs, the Aztecs, modern pyramids, using pyramid shapes, build pyramids, study pyramids, chemistry, and crystals.  Busy week of learning and now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.

Lesson 8: Thick & Thin Lines & Wavy Lines

FIELD TRIPS

Went to a Comic Con at our local library, the kids dressed up as Tanjiro Kamado and Nezuko Kamado.  D won 1st place in the kids division, and K won 3rd place in the teens division. It was a lot of fun and the kids are looking forward to next year and are starting to look for their cosplay costumes.
