Bought the "NIV Adventure Bible for Early Readers and the Devotions" for the kids, we love them both.  I really like how for each book of the bible is has a small introduction to the book, the author, and what things you will learn in that chapter or book.  The devotions talks about everyday things kids might face in their lives and discusses what the bible says about each situation.

Discussed what types of books are in the Old Testament and who wrote each book.

Commit your work to the Lord, and then your plans will succeed.
~Proverbs 16:3

Learned that ladybugs don't have noses and smell with their feet.  Even though they have a mouth they taste with their antennae.

Show respect for everyone.  Love your Christian brothers and sisters.
~1 Peter 2:17a

Read about the New Testament and all about the books and authors of each one.  Learned how writing began, the languages of the Bible, and how it went from clay to books.

Inside soil experiment, he scooped up some dirt and poured it into the jar, then we added some water, and he shook the mess out of the jar.

We let the soil settle after a few hours to observe the layers.

Kids made their own little green house to observe the growth of a red bean.

This experiment was for next week but since I know it takes about a week before we are able to observe much decided to do it a week ahead.
