Worked with D on reviewing his letters and their sounds, he really liked this activity. He would look at the pictures, match the letters with the picture, and then find the slot it goes in. D did this twice and asked to do it again, so glad he enjoyed this activity.

SCIENCE
Gravity experiment: D had a lot of fun with this experiment he could barely stop laughing.
K jumped about 5 feet.
D jumped about 4 feet.
Sunlight and Thermal Energy Experiment
Kids were so excited to see the newspaper burn. We learned that using a plastic magnifying glass doesn't work but a glass one works a lot faster.
We were excited to see some growth in our beans.
Talked about the phases of the moon and then I printed this book for when K went through Kindergarten. D is a more hands on learner and loved going outside to see what phase the moon was. Tried to go every night but our nights here were mostly cloudy.
Had the kids trace the bottom of a can of crackers to form a big circle on black construction paper. That circle would be their moon. Then I mixed together white paint and flour to give their moon some texture. Once they painted in their moon they used several different tops to make craters in their moon. D thought it was so cool to form the craters on his moon.
Filled the bottom of an oil pan (bought at Dollar Tree) with flour and then went outside with the kids. Discussed how craters formed on the moon and the kids dropped several rocks in the pan to symbolize craters on the moon.
Explained about a solar eclipse, the distance from the moon to the earth, and made a cute craft to go with his memory verse which he hangs in his room.
Lighting a bulb with a mechanical energy experiment. K rubbed the balloon on top of her hair and on D's head then move the balloon over the light bulb from side to side. We saw a little spark on the light bulb, not sure if that's what it was suppose to do but it was pretty neat to see.

Built their own rocket ships out of their magnetic tiles.
He won his space ship at the library, which went perfect with our studies.
This week the "Mad Scientist" was at our library and talked all about the moon, how perfect is that. God sure does line things up perfectly for us.
Discussed the distance between the earth and the moon.

We didn't built our own cardboard rocket but the library had one set up in the children section.
Kids went on a scavenger hunt searching for plants.
Kids enjoyed some time playing with some moon dough. We've had these for several years now and they are so soft and easy to mold together. D made a moon while K made a rocket to visit the moon. you can make some moon sand by mixing 8 cups of flour, 1 cup of baby oil, can't remember what mix we made but this recipe has worked for us in the past.

FIELD TRIP
Took everyone to get some ice cream at a local farm close to home, nothing like homemade ice cream.
After enjoying our ice cream we took a walk around the farm.
Our family with my in-laws.
So peaceful
K was the helper for the event the library was having, she always loves Mrs. Debbie.
Lama Lama in red pajamas came to the library.
Some very happy kids.
D won his very own Kelvin the Robot, he was just over moon with his prize.
It has been a great week full of fun and learning. We learned more on Noah and his descendents, the Tower of Babel, Fertile Crescent, Cuneiform, more on light and energy, about Rosh Hashanah, and much more.
