MFW: Creation to the Greek and God's Creation from A to Z Week 1
Back to school week, can't believe we already have a 4th grader and an official Kindergartener. They were very excited to start and eager to see what new things we would learn this year. It will be a great year and we are all going in expecting greatness.
This week we will learn about the Sabbath, review God's creation, our first Greek word, light, the colors of creation, and about the importance of drawing lines.
First day of School 2019-2020
Even Larry Boy was ready to start school.

Observed several items that are used for Sabbath and talked about what each piece meant and stood for. Forgot to get pictures of the bread and spice box, was too focused on celebrating the Sabbath.
My dad brought over to show the kids a plush 10 Commandments scroll and a replica of David's sword. He told explained the items to the kids and they thought it was so neat. Love that my dad likes to get involved in teaching them about the bible when he can.
Working on her challah covering.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Began the week reviewing his letters. He would write each one after identifying the letter on the page, started with letters A to D.
Letters E to H
Letters I to P
Letters Q to Z
Learning the word BIBLOS (books)
At the end of the week we did a quiz on her spelling words and her new greek word BIBLOS.
This year she'll be writing more in cursive and work on more spelling words. She is determined to excel in reading this year.
She thought is was funny when she read the word "but", had to explain to her the difference between "but and butt". She's so silly, never a dull moment with this one.
Reading the story in her Language workbook.
Read about the painting "Noah's Ark by Edward Hicks" and discussed everything about the painting, its meaning, colors, what we saw in the painting, and how K said the picture made her feel peace no matter what storm is coming. Such a wonderful message one painting can hold.
While K finished her math work, D pretended to read us several stories.
MATH
Kids begin each week filling out their 100 charts.
Reviewing numbers 1 to 5 and placing them in the correct order.
Handwriting practice numbers 1 to 7.
Reviewing money amount
Writing out number problems
Practicing on number placements (ten thousand, thousand, hundred, tens, and one)
HISTORY
Started the week with reviewing God's creation.
After coloring and gluing each number he follows the numbers with his fingers, love how he does that on his own. He's gotten so independent, don't have a baby anymore.
Eager to complete his book.
He's very proud of his Creation Book, he worked hard and learned about how mighty and powerful our God is.
K wanted to draw a picture for her history folder and begin her own Creation book like D.
She loves anything dealing with coloring and drawing. She took it upon herself to make her own creation book.
Love her creativity and desire to learn, she did an amazing job with both of her creation projects.
The kids were happy to complete their books and couldn't wait for their dad to come home and tell him all about the days of Creation.
ART
Our first art project we learned about a lesson on frustration, the story of Joni Eareckson Tada and tried to draw a butterfly only using our mouth. It was much harder than we imagined but a great learning experience.
Next lesson we worked on was about line variation.
SCIENCE
After learning about Light and Darkness we went into a dark room and observed the difference.
Discussed the colors of creation, observed several pictures of rainbows, and then did the "Colors of Creation" experiment. It was neat to see all the colors reflect on the cd.
I can tell this is going to be one of our favorite book this school year. Love how well they explain everything and how it includes bible verses to back up what they are saying.
We observed God's creation around us, D wanted me to take pictures of him with his babies (what he likes to call them), he loves animals.
Few of God's creations that live with us: Coco-Cockatiel, Zeus-mix breed, Larry Boy-Bearded Dragon, Yoda and Hulk-Yellow Belly Slider Turtles, 4 Goldfish, and 2 Dwarf Frogs.
Observed some plants we have in the house.
Laid down in the grass to observe the clouds and sky.
Observed several plants and flowers in the front yard.
MUSIC
Listened to "Hayden's Creation" while the kids colored in their pictures for their Creation Book.
FIELD TRIP
Celebrated our "End of Year Party" with our co-op at a roller skating ring.
Lots of fun with their friends.
K loves skating especially with friends.
D doesn't care about skating, he said he was there for the food and cupcakes....lol.
It has been a wonderful first week of school, more than I actually expected. We learned about the Sabbath, reviewed God's creation, our first Greek word, light, the colors of creation, and about the importance of drawing lines. Looking forward to what is in store for us next week. Until next time be blessed.
God Bless You!!!
