   MFW: 1850 TO MT AND ECC WEEK 7

This week we will learn about Canada, Garifuna, Abraham Lincoln, north and south drift apart, the union shattered, industrial north, plantation south, and plantation life.  Read about William & Catherine Booth, boldness, creativity, discipline, Kansas, West Virginia, the gathering storm, secession, Kansas-Nebraska Act, the Union Dissolved, military officers, and the 1860 election.  Learn about Artifacts, artifact analysis, food chains, scavengers & decomposers, population pyramids, did an experiment with a Lincoln Pennies experiment, kids did diorama of the desert and forest after learning all about them.

SCIENCE 

Read about Artifacts, artifact analysis, food chains, scavengers & decomposers, population pyramids, did an experiment with a Lincoln Pennies experiment, kids did diorama of the desert and forest after learning all about them.  









ART

Kids worked on Inuit Carvings, they made a guinea pig/man, spear, and soap balls.




Lesson #67 The Refrigerator Gallery 

MUSIC/VIDEO 

Listened to: "The Stories of Foster and Sousa and Wee Sing: Going over the Sea #2".


FIELD TRIP 

Kids started their cooking class, which they will be doing once a month, and learned to make Blueberry Buckle.




CONCLUSION

This week will be learning about Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, eastern capitals, middle state capitals, Oregon, Mexico, Haiti, and more on Cameron Townsend.  Also learn about acids, bases, alkalis, molecules, oases, coping with dryness, and rain in the desert.  This week didn't get as many pictures, lots of things to complete this week, and just trying to stay focused.

Read about Mexico, enjoyed some tacos to go with our lesson on Mexico, Haiti, Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Jefferson and the West, America grows, Lewis and Clark Expedition, Toussaint Louverture, Aaron Burr, and state capitals.










SCIENCE 

Learned about deserts, how animals cope with dryness, the Himalayas, mountains, excavations, Jordan Petra, Space Archaeology, the Pyramids of Giza, and periodic table.

Kids enjoyed their time outside playing in the rain.
