Still in shock with how fast we have gotten to 6th and 2nd grade, these two are growing up so fast. They are excited for this new year and so am I, praying for a great school year.
This week we will be learning on ways to help others with their problems or situations using the bible. Trusting in God in all we do, and the introduction to the names of God. Learn about Leif Ericsson, vikings, Pledge of Allegiance, what is Science, what do Scientist do, Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, exploring the world, , and Spain exploring America.

Language Arts
This week we started out reviewing short and long vowels, letter sound, common and proper noun, spelling, lots of reading, and handwriting practice.
Math
More review work, multiplication, division, subtraction, addition, fraction, and unit conversion.
Timeline
Added Leif Ericsson sails to North America 1000, 2021 card to the end of the timeline, and baby Jesus.
History
Started the week enjoying some cupcakes and making a flag out of ice. Reviewed the Creation and Pledge of Allegiance, read more on Leif Ericsson, Christopher Columbus, and locate where we live on the map.
Science
Read about what is Science, what is a scientist, animals in God's creation, animals on the ark, creation of the animals, and dinosaurs. Also read about the T-Rex, Pterosaurs, extinct marine reptiles, and classification: animal groups. Ended the week going for a walk around the neighborhood and observing all of God's wonderful creation.
Experiment: will adding salt to water make a difference to how things float.
Kids vertebrae model that they did last year when we were studying the human body.
Art K drew a picture of God holding the Earth in his hands and D did some practice exercises with straight lines
Music/Video
Watched a mini clip of Vikings on Brain Pop and read all about Schubert.
Field Trip
Got the kids a pool so we can keep cool during these hot summer days, they are definitely enjoying it.
Conclusion
Finished our first week of school and enjoyed learning and reviewing everything. We are off to a wonderful start of our new school year, give God all the praise for this blessing. Especially during these times of uncertainties, makes me very grateful to be able to homeschool my kids. Won't take this opportunity for granted. Unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
