Also learn all about birds, their digestive system, flight, respiratory system, and anatomy.

Timeline
Nothing added to the timelines this week.
History
Read on New York Colony, tobacco in Virginia, Angola, the Dutch in the New World, Henry Hudson, slave rebellions and ending of slave trade, Queen Nzinga, and America Pioneers. Made some butter like the pioneers, and played a game of Ninepins.
Science
Learned all about birds, their anatomy, digestive system, respiratory system, and flight. Great lesson about birds to help us better understand our own Cockatiel CoCo, we also love feeding the wild birds in our area. K built a nest using materials birds would use to build their own. Observed the life cycle of a chicken and a sea turtle and identified the different parts of an egg. Also learned about yeast, made bread, and did several experiments to better understand yeast.
Yeast under a microscope almost looks like teeth.
Instead of using sugar we replaced it with salt and saw a different effect. The balloon did not rise instead it seemed like it was sucked into the bottle. Carbon dioxide was not produced in this experiment.
Made some delicious biscuits and Challah bread.
Art
Discussed the history of Rembrandt van Rijn, silhouette, practiced framing, drawing cubes, boxes, and paper bags.
Music/Video
Patriotic Songs of the U.S.A. #2 America
The Best of Schubert: Symphony no. 9 in C Major, "Great": #5 III. Scherzo: ALlegro vivace and #6 IV. Finale: ALlegro vivace.
Watched a video via Varsity Tutor on Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium on Rainforest Roundup with Alexander Konarski.
Field trip
Went for our usual walk in the neighborhood and one of the days started sprinkling. It was a lot of fun and the kids want to always go for a walk any time it rains, as long as there is no lighting or its thundering. Always fun to play in the rain.
