MFW: Adventures in U.S. History Week 18

MFW: ADVENTURES IN U.S. HISTORY WEEK 18

This week we will learn about Tennessee, cotton, Eli Whitney, animal cells, cells, and bacteria in milk.

BOOKS

Few of the books we used this week

BIBLE

Memory Verse: "...the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

~John 1:29

~John 1:26-29

~Exodus 12:1-3, 5-8, 11-14, 21-30

READING

Not sure what the title of this book was but the author is Margaret Hillert

This week she did most of her reading from the bible and stories we read together.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Writing her memory verse and then she worked on her spelling and language workbooks.

MATH

Working on greater than and less than in her math workbooks

U.S. NOTEBOOK

Making cotton out of cotton balls

Cotton with green seeds inside them

Adding Tennessee to her map.

Coloring her worksheet

TIMELINE

Added Eli Whitney to our timeline

ART

Instead of building their project at Home Depot we decided to build it home, there was just too many people there.  Even Larry Boy got in the action of building.

Builders hard at work.

Once they were done building their Gingerbread Houses they went straight to painting to them.

Once the paint was dry on their house they decorated them with stickers.

SCIENCE

Read about animal cells and then she drew her own animal cell and we made a model out of styrofoam ball and glued and painted different pieces to it to represent the cell.  We decided not to do a jello one and make one we could keep around for a long time.

Labeling her animal cell

NATURE WALK

Went to my parents house and observed how my dad's garden was growing.

VIDEOS

Had a movie night, nothing to do with what we were studying.

ACTIVITIES

Made a winter sensory bin for them to play with together, love how they use their imagination with the items in the bin.  Of course Zeus was close by, he is always close to the kids their very own guard dog.

Added a penguin sensory bin with fake snow, which is 1 part baking soda to 2 parts conditioner.  It feels cold to the touch and hold pretty good.

Kids went to Home Depot for their monthly workshop and got to take a picture with Santa.

This week we learned about Tennessee, Eli Whitney, cotton, animal cells, cells, how bacteria grows, and we built our own 3D model of an animal cell.  Kanani really enjoyed making the cell and can't wait for us to build a 3D model of a plant cell.  So happy for her love of learning, pray that it only grows as time goes by.

GOD BLESS!!
