My Father's World: Unit 13 Cow

MFW: Unit 13 Cow

GOD'S WORD HELPS ME GROW.

Some of our finds for the letter Cc

BOOKS

Some great book we read for this unit.

WORKSHEETS

We had so much going on when we did the previous unit (Goat Unit) that we had to finish the worksheets this week.

Once we finished last weeks worksheets we started on this weeks.

Working on her writing and color recognition.

Doing her cut and paste worksheets and reading.

Working on her cusienaire rods, identifying the letter Cc pictures, and practicing her letter Cc using the gel bag I made for her.

MATH

In Math U See this week she started learning skipping by 2.  I was so shocked that she quickly learned to skip count on the first day.  Thought this was something we were going to have to do for a couple of weeks. But to my surprised, which I should know better, she learned it quickly.

Completing her math worksheet, counting cows.

Completed her cut and paste sentence worksheet and then drew some animals that went with the letters Cc, Aa, and Gg.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Cut out some shapes for Kanani and she glued the pieces to make a cow.  Then I drew a picture of a cow without the horns, spots, hooves, and tail for her to draw it on.

Gave Kanani some farm stickers for her to make her little farm.  She loved this craft that she ended up making 3 other farms.

Made a couple of circles to form a caterpillar and on the body I wrote a letter that would spell out our last name.  We have been working on learning to spell our last name since she has already mastered her first and middle name.

Cut out some pieces to make a cow out of paper plate.  Kanani then glued them to the plate to form her cow.  I wrote the versus of the week on the bottom and now she has it hanging in the living room.  She then taped the cow badge and the horse badge (our next unit) on the wall.

ACTIVITIES/GAMES

After reading the cute little box of "If you give a mouse a cookie" we played the game that came with the book.  Can't remember where we got the book from, it came in a kids meal.

Scrambled the blocks for Kanani to put the picture of the cow and pig together.

Some lace and trace fun

Our cute little cow xylophone went great with this unit.  Dartaninan has a little cow that when he presses the yellow button on top will roll and moo.

We all love the nursery rhyme Hey, Diddle, Diddle.  The kids know the rhyme by heart.  Such a cute rhyme, glad we had two books with the rhyme in it.

SCIENCE

Went to our local Children's Museum, they have a farm section where the kids enjoyed milking the cow, collecting eggs and crops.  Learned the different sounds the farm animals made and what were some of the equipments on the farm and their purpose on the farm.

Looked around the kitchen for some items that had milk in them.  We all love milk, chocolate milk.  MILK DOES THE BODY GOOD!

MOVIES/VIDEOS

Watched Word World since it has all the farm animals and helps with building and sounding out words.  Great shows, my kids love it.

MEMORY VERSUS

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

POEM

THE PURPLE COW
   By: Gelett Burgess

I never saw a purple cow,
I never hope to see one,
But I can tell you anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one!

CLASSICAL MUSIC

Vivaldi: Violin Concerto no.1 in G Minor (III. Allegro)
Not shown in the pictures but had Kanani taste several different types of cheese.  We loved some and dislike others, but in all most were really good.

Hope you enjoy our cow unit!

GOD BLESS!!
