MFW:  1850 to MT and ECC Week 33 and 34

This week we are combining week 33 and 34, can't believe this is our last week of school, this school year went by so fast.  We will read about the end of the cold war, democracy in China, communism crumbles, Antarctica, the first Persian Gulf, Africa, and Iceland.  Also read more about simple machines, polar regions, and glaciers.

SCIENCE

Learned about wedging in, levers, first class lever, second class lever, third class lever, pulling pulleys, wheels and axles, belting belts, gears, animals and plants of Antarctica and Arctic.  






ART


Lesson #257: Geometric Designs


Crystal Watercolor Snowflake 



Discussed how penguins (birds in general) have an oil on their feathers that make them water proof.  Colored in their pictures with crayons so the wax of it can represent the feathers then sprayed it with water, watched how the water just dropped down instead of soaking the paper.

MUSIC/VIDEO

Listened to "Wee Sing: Nani Wale Na Hala " and the kids continued on practicing their guitar and drum.

FIELD TRIP


Have a finch nest in one of our bushes, 5 little babies.  


K has been asking us to take her to Mochinut for the longest time, we finally went, boy was it worth the drive.  The doughnuts were so good, definitely will be returning soon. 

CONCLUSION

Had a very busy week since we combined two weeks of studies into one, our last week of school.  Kids will relax for a bit till their testing kits arrive.  We read about Samoa, Antarctica, Arctic, Health craze, the end of the cold war, America abroad, changing times, go-go years, communism crumbles, democracy in China, the first Persian gulf war, Africa-independent, the people's republic, the Clinton Era, iron curtain falls, civil wars, Richard Wurmbrand, and Presidents: Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden.   Learned about wedging in, levers, first class lever, second class lever, third class lever, pulling pulleys, wheels and axles, belting belts, gears, animals and plants of Antarctica and Arctic.  Been a fun, busy week of lots of learning and activities.  Now to relax while we wait for their testing kits to arrive and completely be done for this school year.
