Toddler Preschool: Letter Dd, #4, Yellow, Rectangle (Part 2)

TODDLER PRESCHOOL: LETTER Dd, #4, YELLOW, RECTANGLE (PART 2)

This week is our continuation from last week.  We will be revisiting the letter Dd, #4, the color yellow, and the rectangle shape.  He can identify the letter Dd and at times the #4 but I want to make sure he gets a better hang of it.

Some of the items we are revisiting this week.

BOOKS

Book of the week

LETTER D

After reading "My d book" to him he sat down on the floor and looked through the pages.  Every so often he would say "D".

MATH

Number 4 and groups of 4

After putting things in group of 4s or the number 4 on the green try, Dartanian decided he wanted them on the blue tray.  As he transferred the objects from one tray to the next I would keep repeating FOUR to him, which he would at times repeat.

Ordered these geometric shapes for the kids to be able to see the in 3D and get a better understanding of the shape.  After he saw his sister working with them he quickly started to do the same.  Love how he learning so much from just watching his sister.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Cut out the letter Dd for him to glue to the paper, for some reason he has been very interested in glueing things.  While he was patting the letters down he would say "D".

His sister is learning about duplication and matching drawing this week, I prepared a square template for her to practice her drawing.  Once he saw what she was doing he quickly said "I try", so I gave him his own square template for him to color or draw in.  Always wants to do what his sister does.

ACTIVITIES

Observed different yellow objects

Working on identifying some letters using the bananagram tiles.  He would pick out a letter and I would tell him what the letter was and most of the time he would repeat.

After reading "Color Zoo" by Lois Ehlert to the kids little man wanted to take a closer look at the book.  Love how he would look at each page slowly and observe everything on the page closely.

Bought this DC Super Friends book for him for Easter.  He really likes Batman but has really enjoyed picking up a character whenever we read his story.

FIELD TRIP

We didn't go too far for this field trip, in our front yard.  Finally had some clear skies and went and observed the moon and stars.  Little man is still young to know exactly how to look through the telescope, he actually kept putting his mouth on it.  Little by little he'll learn how to use it correctly.

END OF THE WEEK

Even though this took place at the beginning of the week, it was sweet starting off the week with these cuties.   The kids had a lot of fun hanging out with the girls, our friends from our homeschool co-op group.

GOD BLESS!

As we finished this week with the letter Dd, #4, the color yellow, and the rectangle shape I was beginning to think we would have to repeat everything again the following week.  I didn't think he knew his what I was teaching him, he understood the previous lessons.  Dartanian proved me wrong, today he came and would pick up random yellow objects and tell me the correct color, pointed at the letter D and would say the letter, plus he did the same thing with the number 4 and rectangle shape.  Just when you think you aren't getting anything through to them they prove you wrong.
