This week we will finish our studies on Canada. We'll do more crafts, try some food they eat in Canada, and learn more about the people and culture. Discuss the food chain, dinosaurs, and work on several different science experiments.

Found these cute things for the kids to paint at Target and Dollar Tree.
We didn't have any maple leaves by our house so we used the leaves in our yard.

Stamp Art
Made some firework crafts for the 4th of July which was this week.
Spread some shaving cream on a tray and had the kids place several drops of food coloring then spread the coloring with q-tips to form fireworks. "To make "Shaving Cream Firework".
Placed some paper on top of the shaving cream for our finished look of "Shaving Cream Firework".
GEOGRAPHY
Coca-Cola Moose that represents Canada and an Arctic Barbie.
Poured some hot maple syrup on top of vanilla ice cream.
SCIENCE
Celery Experiment to show how trees take in water from the soil and move up their branches and leaves.
Once the celery observed the water we cut the ends very thin so we could observe it under the microscope.

Cut the leaves to take a closer look at the veins of the leaves.
After we were done with celery experiment we used the left over water for the water walk experiment.
It was really neat to see the water go up the paper towels.
Our results, they came out so pretty.
Few of the items I set up for the kids for our dinosaurs unit. We really want to visit Alberta, Canada because more dinosaur bones have been found there than any other place in the world.
We have our own little dinosaur "Larry Boy", he decided to get to know where he came from.
Larry wanted to help little man with his coloring.
Went to a friend's house and the kids made slime and silly putty.

Also made some lip balm.
NATURE WALK
Read some books on the 4th of July since it was this week.
Watched some fireworks at my in-laws house.

FIELD TRIP
Fun week visiting friends and enjoying some pool time.

This has been such a wonderful week of learning, fun, and time with friends and family. Finished our study on Canada this week. Definitely on our list of places we want to visit. Also learned that Canada is where most dinosaur bones have been found, which is awesome. Did many different experiments and learned more about the food chain. Now unto next week to start our study on Brazil.
