Penguin Unit

For this unit we spent most of the week waddling around the house like penguins.

DISCOVERY CHANNEL 

We love the discovery channel and couldn't pass up the opportunity to watch the "Emperors of the Ice.

SENSORY PLAY 

I took the bag of snow I had made awhile back (2 cups baking soda and 1/2 cup of comditioner) and placed it in a container with some penguins and snowflakes. 

THUMBPRINTS PENGUINS 

These came out so cute.

FOOTPRINT PENGUINS

Just adorable little feet. 

SHAPES

Cut the shapes then had K match the white part to the black part and glue them together. 

COUNTING & SORTING 

Lined up 10 paper cups and 10 penguins with numbers 1-10 on them. Placed them in the wrong order so that K could arrange them correctly.  Then gave her a bag of snowflakes so she could put the right amount of snowflakes into each cup.  

PAINT & GLITTER

Let her pick the paint color and paint like she wanted.  She asked for some glitter, she wanted her penguins to sparkle.
