Zoo Club: Chimpanzee

ZOO CLUB: CHIMPANZEES

Went to the zoo for Kanani's last class for her zoo club.  This time her dad got to go with us and her grandparents.

Kids were excited when they saw the zoo sign.  Went on the tram to go to Africa to take our class on Chimpanzees.

Observing some chimpanzees

Learning all about chimpanzees, facial expressions, skull structure, and much more.

Look how small there hands are compared to a gorilla's hand.

Observing more chimpanzees and working together with one of her class mates from the co-op.  They were trying to get a googly eye out of the bottom of the bottle without moving the bottle and only using the materials that was provided.  They used two popsicle sticks which they tied together and a string with they attached to the sticks.  On the bottom of the string they had some putty which they used to stick the eye on.  After several tries they managed to get the eye out.  This was suppose to show them how Chimps get termites out of a termite mound.

The kids were excited when they saw the carousal was open this time around.  Last time we went to the zoo it was closed.

Honey Bee Garden, it was neat to see the bees hard at work and be able to walk into a huge beehive.

Riding a honeybee

Ocelot

Tortoise, porcupine, and a quail which kept following the kids.

Got to see the zoo keeper feed the hawk

Brown bear, black bear, barn owl, and desert cat.

Bisons

Observing a man made geyser

Sea Otter was so active and cute

Enjoying the spider web at the bug garden

Slide was in the shape of a leaf

Female polar bear

Male polar bear which was very active and we got to watch the zoo keeper feed.

Seals kept chasing each other in the water

Kids got to paint with water and chalk a long wall, climb a bridge that went around the kidzone.

This was one of their favorite things at the zoo, the stream.

They were soaked, thankfully I had brought extra clothes for them.  The memories they make is so worth it.

Making music with their grandfather

In a tepee

Green anole

This was one of the best trips to the zoo we have had in awhile.  We were able to do the other half the zoo we didn't get to do last time.  The best part was having my husband join us.  He works so hard and hardly has any time off to join us on our field trip.  It was a true blessing to have him with us.
