MFW: ECC and K4 Week 29

MFW: ECC & K4 WEEK 29

We'll began our studies on Russia and learn everything we it.  Learn about the arctic the animals and plants that live there.  D will work on his letters, numbers, colors, and shapes.

LANGUAGE ARTS



Working on her spelling words and practicing her cursive handwriting.




After completing her spelling lessons we had a spelling quiz.



Lots of reading practice this week.


Started a new workbook with him this week, he seems to enjoy it a lot more and is remembering what he is learning.  Found this workbook at Dollar Tree.



Working on his letter Aa, Bb, and Cc worksheets.



Matching letters and numbers



Working on his alphabet puzzles.

MATH



We are concentrating on multiplication and division this week using our variety of flash cards.




Handwriting practice and identifying shapes.




Shape recognition and number matching.



I would say a color and he would search for the crayon matching that color.

ARTS & CRAFT



Instead of making the Matryoshka Doll Boxes we just made the dolls, which the kids enjoyed.  After they finished their dolls they got to take a look at a few of my Russian Nesting Dolls.

Printed some copies of the St. Basil's Cathedral for the kids to color while I read about it.



Found these cute sports car at Walmart clearance section for only $1 each, kids were excited to use their tools to build them.



Happy to have completed their cars using their new tool kits.

GEOGRAPHY 



Traveling to Russia this week.



Adding their plane tickets to their books.

SCIENCE



We got to experience the Blood Moon, it was so neat to watch.




Searching for the Arctic animals in their Animal Book 




Learning about Arctic Animals 


We talked about Permafrost and observed how our surroundings outside was frozen or had a thin layer of ice on top.  After observing the ice we poured some hot water in the grass and saw how muddy that area got.  

NATURE WALK 


It was finally warm enough for everyone to enjoy some time outside.

Checked "Diego's Arctic Rescue" from the library and learned about the animals and how they survive in the arctic.




The Magic School Bus "In the Arctic" Season 3 Episode 1




Netflix has a show that originated in Russia "Masha and the Bear", kids liked watching a few of the episode.


MUSIC




Watched a video "Peter and the Wolf" on YouTube after reading the book.


Wee Sing: Veselee Husi



Listened to Peter Tchaikovsky while we finished our lessons.

FIELD TRIP



Story time at the library on Penguins.




Trying to get the penguin eggs (cotton) into the cups.

Enjoyed some fun at Defy Gravity celebrating a friend's birthday.



Love spending time with babies, they are growing up to fast.

This week we started our studies on Russia, learned about their beliefs, culture, and people.  Also learned about the Arctic and the animals and plants that live there.  Listened to some Peter Tchaikovsky and Peter and the Wolf.  D worked on his letter, numbers, shapes, and colors.  Next week we will continue our studies on Russia.
