Few of our Coca-Cola International Animals from: Nepal, Romania, Czech Republic, and England.
When I was the kids age my parents got me this wonderful block set when we lived in Germany. I've always loved this set not just because my parents gave it to me but because of all the fairy tale pictures it had. Blessed to still have this set and be able to see my children have as much fun and joy with it as I did. Thankful for these wonderful memories I get to share with my kids.
Six different folk stories these blocks represent.
SCIENCE
D learned about lighting bugs in his Bug Science class at our co-op.
Searched for different animals that live around ponds and lakes.
Love of Dinosaurs are strong in this family, our living was taken over by them.
Few of our Landform and water posters we used this week.
Looked at several pictures on landforms and water forms and then completed our landform worksheets we got from Snippets by Sarah Blog.
Freezing fresh and saltwater experiment.
The kids predicted which water would freeze first and were very excited to see their prediction came true. The freshwater froze first and the saltwater didn't due to the salt in the water.
The kids wanted to see how it would effect both types of water after 4 hours in the freezer. They both held the cups and try to squeeze them and noticed that the fresh water cup was frozen solid and the saltwater cup was easier to squeeze even though it seemed the surface was frozen. This really was a neat experiment. We couldn't get an accurate reading as far the temperature went since our thermometer couldn't read in the water.
Vibration experiment: placed some salt on top of a cookie sheet pan (which we turned upside down) and had the kids tap the pan with the spoon to see the salt move on top of the pan like sound bounces or vibrates.
Kids learning about vibration.
NATURE WALK
Went to our local pond and lake for the kids to get a better look of what we have been studying.
Got a chance to feed some beautiful ducks and spend some time by the lake together as a family.
Went for a walk on the trail to observe the many different plants, flowers and trees by the wetlands.
Kids love hiking and running around on the trail.
After our walk in the woods we talked about how the weather was changing and we are now in Autumn. One of the main things the kids pointed out was the colors of the leaves. Love all the colors of fall, our favorite season of the year. To go with our talk of Autumn I printed off this great worksheet from Education website.
Your kids will "jump" into learning with this fun autumn themed word search! Check out more fun reading activities at Education.com!
