MFW: Rome to Reformation and Ancient History and Literature Curriculum Organization

This year we are doing two different curriculum, RtR and AHL. It's going to be a busy year but praying we learn a lot, get closer to God, and make a lot of wonderful memories this year. Below are the books we have for each subject, not pictured but we will be doing some community services (looking into joining several things with our church), and the kids are continuing their music classes (guitar and drums). Our school area is in the dining room and basement, also do our school outdoors at times. The world is our school, so mush to learn all around us.

We finally got our pool up, best way to exercise and have fun. Kids love bike riding and going on walks with our puppy, we all love being outdoors, and exploring the world.

Kids first picture at the beginning of the year and the second picture of their last day of school.

CONCLUSION

They have grown so much this year and have learned so much. Below I will be posting weekly as we complete our lessons. We are looking forward to see what adventures are in store for us in this upcoming year.

This week we will learn about Alexander the Great, Greek culture, the Hellenistic Age, Alexander's Empire, the sense of taste, and the sense of touch. We also will work on reviewing all our senses by doing several experiments for each sense.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Worked on lots of reading, spelling, comprehension, poems, writing, Greek words, and Spanish.

MATH

Kids worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, graphs, skip counting, and fractions.

TIMELINE

HISTORY

Read about Alexander the Great, spread of Greek culture, Macedonia conquers Greece, and the Hellenistic Age.

SCIENCE

Learned more on the sense of taste, the sense of touch, sour and sweet, touch the difference, and did several different experiments for all our senses even our puppy wanted to be involved.

ART

Lesson #93: Drawing Samson

FIELD TRIPS

Went with the family to the National Conservation Training Center open house. We learned a lot, had lots of fun, got lots of goodies, kids dissected an owl dropping, and got to see a real eagle's nest.

CONCLUSION

This week we read about Alexander the Great, spread of Greek culture, Macedonia conquers Greece, and the Hellenistic Age. Learned more on the sense of taste, the sense of touch, sour and sweet, touch the difference, and did several different experiments for all our senses even our puppy wanted to be involved. This is our last week of school, now we will take several weeks break before starting 9th and 5th grade, can't believe we are here already.

This week we will learn about Nehemiah, Greece's golden age, rebuilding Jerusalem's wall, Ezra reads the law, the people confess their sins, Greek drama, City of Athens, the sense of hearing, and the sense of balance.

This week we read about Nehemiah goes to Jerusalem, Jerusalem's walls are rebuilt, life in Ancient Greece, school, drams, life at home, and the Olympic games. Also read about the city of Athens, Science and learning, war with Sparta, architecture and art, beautiful building, the golden age of Greece, power to the people., Greek life, and philosophy. Learned more on the sense of hearing, the sense of balance, fluid motion, seeing, and did lots of experiments. This week my parents got to go to the kids music lessons, K's guitar lesson, and D's drum lesson, finished the week at Lowe's kids workshop. Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
