  MFW:  RtR (5th Grade) and AHL (9th Grade) Week 5

This week we will learn Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the land between the Rivers, everyday life of Nomads, Shoddy Pyramids, and what God means for good.  Read about Egypt: the Old Kingdom, the Egyptian religion, temple life, the growth of empires, the role of king government and power, and the glorious middle kingdom.  Also read about the bathhouses, family life, Herod, Virgil, Isaiah, Octavia, Antony, the siege of Jerusalem, the five senses, taste and smell, and smellers.

Worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, skip counting, fractions, decimals, and units. 





HISTORY

Read about from emperor to slave, Herod, Mariamne, triumph, peace, Romans relaxing, theater, audiences, masks, pantomime, special effects, the first emperor, Augustus Caesar, the Druid, tales of the wild northwest, and religious ceremonies.  Also read about the gods of the empire, the most important gods, Roman emperors, drama, predicting the future, wedding, a bible for the Romans, the pantheon, the story of Aeneas, literature, the Hebrew kingdom, conquering Canaan, the great escape, fighting the Philistines.  Learned about King David, the Middle Kingdom, King Solomon, two kingdoms, the end of the Hebrew Kingdoms, Abraham and his descendants, the calling of Abram, God's covenant with Abraham, polygamy, cave of Macpelah, lessons from Patriarchs, and the Egyptian empire.

FIELD TRIP

This week we started our monthly art class with our co-op, the kids learned about cubism.  Love their interpretation of Cubism.
