MFW:  RTR AND LEARNING GOD'S STORY WEEK 31

This week we will learn about the Printing Press, the Reformation: Martin Luther, King Henry VIII, John Huss, Martin Luther, William Tyndale, an exploration of translations, John Wyclif, Bohemia and the Hussites, Pope Boniface, Gutenberg's great invention, and Reformation.  Also learn about a dead girl and a sick woman, bread and fish, good samaritan, the lost coin, plants and water, and Uranus.  

BOOKS

Added Gutenberg Invents the Printing Press-First Bible Printed and Reformation: Martin Luther's 95 Theses-1517 to her timeline.  

HISTORY 


Learning about the printing press and making their printing block of their names.



Since the wood block didn't work as well we brought out our stamp set to stamp out their name.  


John Wyclif, Early Protesters, the Reformation and a New World, the Eve of the Reformation, Abuses in the Papacy, and Abuses in the Roman Church.


Ideas and Inventions, John Huss, other protesters of the church, Gutenberg's Great Invention, and Bohemia and the Hussites.  


Henry VIII's Problem, William Tyndale, the Reformation, and the Reformation spreads.


Martin Luther's List, Martin Luther: Father of the Reformation, and Reformation: the Gospel Clarified.  


After learning about pottery and how they made it out of clay, he made his own little clay pot. 

SCIENCE 


Learned about Uranus this week and colored in her planet for the week. 


Added Uranus to our planets.


Orbit and Rotation, who named Uranus, Moons, and Ariel.

This week we spent a lot of time outdoors, enjoying the warm weather.  K practiced her archery with her birthday present while D went bike riding with his dad.

MFW: RtR and Learning Gods Story Week 30

MFW:  RTR AND LEARNING GOD'S STORY WEEK 30

This week we will be learning about Jesus calling Matthew, the twelve apostles, calming of the storm, and reviewing the 100 chart and some sight words.  Also learn about Cortes and Montezuma, slavery, Renaissance Art, conquering and settling the new world, Portuguese, Africa, East Indies, Brazil, secularism, Italian artists, and Michelangelo.

Memory Verse handwriting practice.


Latin words for the week: LIBER, LIBRI (book) and SCIO, SCITUM (know).


Proofreading a paragraph (adverbs and adjectives) and some reading practice.


More reading and rewriting the paragraph correctly.


She really enjoys reading the Bible reader and is working on synonyms, and antonyms. 


This week we will be focusing on a lot of reading.


Sight word practice and reading.


He has improved so much in his reading since we started in the beginning of the year.


Gotten to the point where he actually asks to read, he still needs help, but I love being there with him and watching him read and improve each day.

MATH 


Multiplication and adding cubes.


Word problems reviews


Lots of review work for the next several weeks.


Learning about what a penny is worth.


Matching the correct amount to the cent value. 


Counting review: placing the correct amount of leaves that go with the number.  


Identifying the shapes and colors and then matching them to the correct slots.  


Glued some coins to the popsicle sticks and wrote how much each one is worth, to make it easier for D to be to remember the amount.  I actually did this for K when she went through first.  


Working on dimes and penny worksheet amount.  

TIMELINE 


D added the 12 apostles to his timeline this week.

HISTORY 


Read about Cortes and Montezuma, conquering and settling the New World, epilogue, the Aztecs, and Portuguese, Africa, the East Indies, and Brazil.


The Slave Trade 

Secularism, influence of secularism, the Renaissance, and a New Way of Thinking.  


Artist of Italy


More on the influence of secularism, Anne of Cleves, Renaissance culture in Europe, and importance of the Renaissance.

SCIENCE 


This week we will learn about Saturn, ring system, twins, and the rings around it.


Ignore the anger look on her face (she just looks this way lately....lol), made a venn diagram of Saturn and Jupiter.  


Added Saturn to her other planets.


Colored in their Saturn this week.


Fast rotation, Saturn's Moons, who named Saturn, finding Saturn in the Night Sky, and Cassini Mission.


Made a rocket using alka seltzer tablets, paper towel, water, and soda bottle.


Learned about water waves and used a rope to see the waves first hand.


Planted our beans that we had in mason jars, they actually grew better in the jar that was side ways.


After planting all four beans we forgot to bring them inside, and when we went to get them the next morning the squirrels destroyed 3 out of 4.  D was so sad but happy at least one survived.  


Studied the life cycle of the kidney bean.


Placing the life cycle of the bean in the correct order.


Learning the parts of a flower and what each part does.

Ran several errands and another vet visit with our puppy (he's 11 years old) and has been pretty sick lately.  Praying for healing and more years with him.


These 3 were loving the warm weather.

This week we learned about Jesus calling Matthew, the twelve apostles, calming of the storm, and reviewing the 100 chart and some sight words.  Also learned about Cortes and Montezuma, slavery, Renaissance Art, conquering and settling the new world, Portuguese, Africa, East Indies, Brazil, secularism, Italian artists, and Michelangelo.  Another week down and now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
