MFW; RtR and Learning Gods Story Week 22

  MFW:  RTR AND LEARNING GOD'S STORY WEEK 22

This week we will learn about Jews, China, Tale of the Diaspora, the origins of Chinese Civilization, China's First Emperor, The Old Silk Road, and The Han Dynasty.  Will learn more about water, the sun, and the eclipse.  Read about the Ten Commandments, Tabernacle, Twelve Spies, and Jericho and Rehab.

LANGUAGE ARTS


Latin words this week:  SOL (sun) and VULCANUS (Vulcan Roman god of fire).


Working on abbreviations and exclamation marks.


Definition and proofreading.


Writing sentences that end in a question mark and lots of reading this week.


A lot of reading practice this week and learning the ending _ed.


K read The Ten Laws while D finished his worksheet and learned the ending _ed.


The Twelve Spies worksheet and more reading practice.


The ten laws worksheet and learning how CH sounds like K.

MATH 


100 day chart, number of the day (85-88), calendar, and weather chart.


Lots of division this week.


Word problems and dividing decimals.


More dividing problems.


Word problems and adding double digits.


Word problems and adding 3 numbers.


Lots of adding and word problems.

TIMELINE 


Added 10 Commandments to his timeline this week.

HISTORY 


Printed these 10 Commandments awhile ago, can't remember where I found it on Pinterest, it was great to bring them out again for D to review.


After reading about the 12 Spies, D colored in a worksheet I had from church, and then he walked around the house holding up grapes like the spies did.


Observing our Tabernacle set we made last year.


Land of the Dragons, the People of Early China, and the Origins of Chinese Civilizations. 


The Scattering of the Jews and A Tale of the Diaspora.


Chinese Alphabet, China's First Emperor, The Everlasting Empire, and The Han Dynasty.


Chinese History, The Han Dynasty, The Three Kingdoms, and The Old Silk Road.


After learning all about China we ended the week making Chineses Rice.

SCIENCE 


Water's 'skin' experiments: bulging glass, flattening drips, and blowing bubbles.


Learned all about the Sun this week.


Reviewed about eclipses this week and made our own out of paper plates.


Light bending experiment: Observing the white light and rainbow light (which I didn't get a good picture of.


Used a magnifying glass to focus heat on the butter to melt it.  


Made a solar eclipse using a golf ball, flashlight, and our small globe.

ART


Lesson 121: Creating a Triptych

Craft to refresh what we studied last week: Moses crossing the Red Sea.


D made his own 10 Commandments craft.

Kids did an awesome job and have enjoyed playing with their ATM Banks.

CONCLUSION 

This week we learned about Jews, China, Tale of the Diaspora, the origins of Chinese Civilization, China's First Emperor, The Old Silk Road, and The Han Dynasty.  Learned more about water, the sun, and the eclipse.  Read about the Ten Commandments, Tabernacle, Twelve Spies, and Jericho and Rehab.  Lots of learning this week and fun activities, now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
