MFW: RTR AND LEARNING GOD'S STORY WEEK 11
This week we actually did all of our school work in 3 days instead of our normal 4. Had family in town so we didn't do school while they were, we wanted to enjoy every minute with them while they were here. We will learn about Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Peter in Prison, Herod, Paul, Galen, Hippocrates, Aesculapius, Alexandria, and Christianity spread to the the Gentiles. Learn about how our long bone work and all about our teeth. Also learn everything about the beach, what we can find there and enjoy going to the beach.
BOOKS
Few of the books we used this week.

LANGUAGE ARTS
Placed some goldfish on his spelling cards, every time he would read it correctly he got to eat one. He loved this game, glad I found something to get happy to read his words.
MATH
Fractions, word problems, and lots of multiplication and division work.
Lots of adding and subtraction, he loved using his goldfish for his math problems.
D wanted to play restaurant during lunch. Wrote out the menu with the prices on hit and K gave him her order, which he them added together. She paid him and then he counted the money. He also wanted to play during dinner time, great way to practice his adding and learn more about money.
TIMELINE
None this week.
HISTORY
Made a Roman Scroll invitation and the kids delivered it to their dad (we don't know anyone here since we just moved here) for our celebration next week.
SCIENCE
While reading more about the beach D drew his version of the beach, he included a cross to represent Jesus when he died on the cross for our sins. He said the beach reminded him of God's love and how our lives are at peace. When we went to the beach we discussed how peaceful and relaxing it was there so he associates the beach with the peace we receive when Christ is the center of our lives.
The new dentist gave me a copy of the kids x-rays of their mouth. I let them know that we would be studying about teeth and were happy to give me a copy for our studies. K has one last lose tooth and then she will have all her permanent teeth, D has 4 lose teeth at the moment.
Read them the story of Dr. Rabbit and observed the poster on how to take care of our teeth.
Our Five Senses board is getting full with great information, kids are constantly going back to the board and looking through each model and telling me what they learned of each one. One of our favorite subjects so far.
Read about Caligula and then observed his portrait from our picture postcard gallery set. K then said a short description of her thoughts on the piece of artwork, the book said to write a short essay but I had her do a speech instead. I want to her to feel more comfortable in giving a speech about certain subjects, public speaking practice.
Watched an episode of the "Magic School Bus: Mussel Beach, and Story Bots: Teeth", which went perfect with this week's lessons.
Went back to Greenbrier Park with the family to learn about the beach (closest we can get to the beach for now).
D searched for rocks and seashells in the water with my dad, he also picked up lots of seaweed and observed what things he could find inside them.
Worked hard on her tooth model and then observed the spinning wheel on how baby tooth fall out when adult tooth come in.
