Started reviewing the Days of Creation, D is making a booklet with each day.  He loves making little books so he can carry them around and show everyone what he made and learned.

Day 2 of Creation: God created the Sky and Waters, he loves his booklet.

After reading about the Formless Earth in the TM we made jello to go along with the lesson.  The TM had a different recipe then the one we used, I had a lot of left over jello from K's Rome to Reformation lesson.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Latin words this week: MANUS (hard) and PES, PEDIS (feet).

Filling in the blanks and working on definitions.

Imperative sentences and searching for words in a thesaurus.

Made a game for the kids with spelling words, K got into the game with D.  It really helped boost both of them in their spelling.  They would race each other to see who could write it first correctly.  Helped K boost her confidence, this dyslexia thing has really had her down a bit, but we are praying she pulls through this.

Working on the oo sound and reading.

OO worksheet, reading, and spelling his words.  Printed an ABC chart with pictures to help with him to remember what each was and placed some goldfish on each card for him to eat when he read the wrote right.

HISTORY

Read all about the Roman games and the ways they entertained themselves.

Made a pop up of The Colosseum in Rome.

Learned about Paul in Rome, John and the Great Vision, and The Seven Stars.

Learned more about the way Romans entertained, games, Julio-Claudian Dynasty, Claudius, Nero, The Flavian Dynasty, The Five Good Emperors, and Organization of the Christian Church.

Learned more about all things Chariot Racing and the Roman Empire conquering force.

Started reading "Trial and Triumph" and learned about the Early Church and Polycarp.

D started learning about the history and author of the first 4 books of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers.

Read about "The Sign of the Fish" and how its believed that the Christians used to use the symbol of the fish to tell other Christians they believed in Jesus Christ.

Read about Revelation and the Roman Empire and how big it is.

After reading about how big the Roman Empire was K colored in her map all that belonged to the empire.  She was also surprised the list of emperors on her worksheet.

This week we started reading "The Story of the World" by Susan Wise Bauer.

Dressed up like a Roman using one of our blankets, they wanted to use the red one for show that they were royals.  They thought it was so comfortable and stayed like that for awhile.

SCIENCE

Read about under the sea and then he observed the shark we have in a jar, I also read about sharks while he looked at the shark.

How things bend in the water experiment: put a spoon in a clear glass of H2O resting on one side.  It looked bent because of the light reflected from the spoon bends when it leaves the H20 to go into the air and to your eye.  D was surprised with how the spoon looked bent in the water.

After reading about the formless Earth we poured water into a square and circular container to show how water changes into the shape its poured in.

D learned about the Ocean Food Web and Intertidal Zone Organisms, which to be honest I actually thought he would go over his head but he actually understood everything.  I really need to stop not giving him the credit he deserves, he is so smart.

Read him the story of the "Five Little Fish" then he made his own ending with the fish eating the shark.  We loved the new ending and the excitement on his face.

Bought a booklet of National Geography book on Oceans at Dollar Tree and one of the pages was Spot the Difference.

While reading about the ocean he went fishing with his "Gone Fishin" game.

While working with K I had D play a Dominio Game of Under the Sea we got from Dollar Tree.

Last year at one of our co-ops D was taking a class on Ocean Animals, his teacher made a seek and find bag filled with rice and ocean animals.  He always enjoys playing with this.

Brought out our animal bin and dug through it to search for the ocean animals.  Then D organized them in groups and enjoyed playing with them while I worked with K.

Learned all about the brain and the different sections in our brain.

Parts of the brain and what are its functions.

Made a frozen brain, got the mold from Dollar Tree, added red food coloring to the water and then froze it over night.  The kids thought it was pretty neat to see the frozen brain.  After discussing the different parts of the brain and its functions they wanted to the lick the brain.  Didn't taste too good...lol.  Next time we will make a jello brain.

K made her spinal cord model while I read all about it and then we added it to our board.

Read all about the importance of being healthy, which has really motivated the kids to work more on keeping their body in good shape.

ART

While reading several stories of "The Rainbow Fish", D colored in his own Rainbow Fish.

For his art work D had to draw pictures in layers and he chose to draw GOD has the center of his picture with angels all around him.  He drew himself on the bottom worshipping God.  Love his heart and how much he loves GOD.

Lesson 108:  Early Christian Art

After reading all about the many symbols people use for Christianity K drew her own symbols.

Drew a picture and taped it to our back door for D to trace.  He did a great job and thought it was a cool way to draw
