 MFW:  Exploration to 1850 and Adventures in U.S. History Week 24

This week we will learn about Robert Fulton, Eli Whitney, steam and coal in Britain, cotton and guns in America, Lavoisier and oxygen, the steam engine, new machines, new factories, Doc. Jenner, daughters of the New Republic, and Noah Webster.  We will also discuss how Jesus is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Samuel Morse, telegraph, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Vermont, and Rhode Island.  Learn some facts on roots, root systems, classification, human body, and do some drawings and paintings.  Definitely going to be a fun week of learning.

Language Arts 

Kids did a lot of reading this week, proof reading, fill in the blank, handwriting practice, and spelling.









Math 

Worked on addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions, grouping, ratios, and skip counting.

Added Samuel Morse, Robert Fulton, and Eli Whitney to their timeline this week.



History 

Read about Robert Fulton, Eli Whitney, steam and coal in Britain, cotton and guns in America, Lavoisier and oxygen, the steam engine, new machines, new factories, Doc. Jenner, daughters of the New Republic, Noah Webster, and Rhode Island. 














Science 

Discussed roots, root hairs, root growth, geotropism, root systems, geophytes, rooting, made a leaf skeleton (attempted to), human body and the way we breath, and our sense of taste.

Conclusion 

This week we learned about Robert Fulton, Eli Whitney, steam and coal in Britain, cotton and guns in America, Lavoisier and oxygen, the steam engine, new machines, new factories, Doc. Jenner, daughters of the New Republic, and Noah Webster.  We also discussed how Jesus is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Samuel Morse, telegraph, Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Vermont, and Rhode Island.  Learned some facts on roots, root systems, classification, human body, and do some drawings and paintings.  Finished the week with a trip to Discovery Station in Maryland, the kids had a lot of fun and the best part was their dad being there to enjoy the fun.  Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.

This week we will be learning about Catherine the Great, the reign of terror, tyrants, the French Revolution, Frederick's last review, Russians, Prussians, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia.  We will also learn about Jesus being the head of the body, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, the human body, transpiration, anatomy of a leaf, Swan Lake, the best of Tchaikovsky, and more on William Carey.

Learned about the parts of a paragraph, spelling, handwriting, oral composition, poems, reading, and dictation.

We did a lot of fractions, ratios, multiplication, subtraction, addition, and division.

Added Catherine the Great to her timeline this week. 

History 

We read about Maine, South Carolina, tyrants, the reign of terror, Catherine the Great, New Hampshire, Missouri, Arkansas, the French Revolution, Virginia, Michigan, and Russia.















Science 

Learned about the anatomy of a leaf, falling leaves, leaf venation, leaf shapes, leaf margins, leaf arrangement, simple leaves, compound leaves, and five senses.





Art

Music/Video 

Listened to the "The Best of Chopin: #6 Nocturne in F sharp minor op. 48, no. 2 and #7 Nocturne in D flat major op. 27, no. 2.

Also listened to "the Best of Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake".

Field trip 

We made Oreo's houses, which we bought back in December to do with the grandparent but unfortunately they didn't want to.  Had a lot of fun making them and just seeing the smiles on their faces and hearing them laugh is all worth it.  Mine didn't stand a chance since I kept giving the kids all the parts of my house to them for theirs.

This week we learned about Catherine the Great, the reign of terror, tyrants, the French Revolution, Frederick's last review, Russians, Prussians, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia.  We also learned about Jesus being the head of the body, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, the human body, transpiration, anatomy of a leaf, Swan Lake, the best of Tchaikovsky, and more on William Carey.  It's been a busy week and have enjoyed learning.  Now unto next week to see what adventures are in store for us.
