MFW: RtR and Learning Gods Story Week 34

MFW:  RTR AND LEARNING GOD'S STORY WEEK 34

This week we will learn about how the church grows, Stephen and Saul, Peter in jail, and a New Heaven and Earth.  Also learn about Walter Raleigh, Jacques Cartier, Spain and England at war, different languages, translating the Bible, the lost colony, and the world at the end of the sixteenth century.  Read about space, the International Space Station, all about astronauts, the way they live in the space station, details of the space station, and more on plants and how we use them in our everyday lives.  

BOOKS

BIBLE

Memory verse:  Many are the plans in a man's heart but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.

Bible Reader Cards: Paul is bitten by a snake, Paul saves a boy, Paul's first journey.


Peter and Peter escapes from prison bible reader cards.

LANGUAGE ARTS


Handwriting practice their memory verse.


More Latin words review.


Reviewing irregular verbs and some reading practice.  


Reviewing comparative and superlative adjectives.


Lots of reading practice, she has improved so much this year.  


So proud of him and how hard he has been working with reading, today he took it upon himself to read 4 different mini stories.  


Reviewing his sight words and doing lots more reading.


He said he is starting to like reading, and is happy he can finally read several of his mini stories with no help.  

MATH


Called out some math problems for her to do as review work.  


Reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. 


More review math problems and some skip counting practice.

TIMELINE


K added New Heaven and Earth to her timeline.  


D added Paul and New Heaven & Earth to his timeline this week. 

HISTORY

History of the translators, new ventures to the America, Walter Raleigh and the new world, and the lost colony.


The Reformation and a New World, abuses in the Roman Church, and Portuguese Africa, the East Indies, and Brazil. 


Wycliffe Bible translators, Explorations in the North, the New-Found Land, Early Explorations, Jacques Cartier's Discoveries, and Spain into the unknown.


The World at the end of the sixteenth century, Empires Collide, and Spain and England's War.  


Played the Fox and Geese game.


Read about the church grows, Peter in Jail, Stephen and Saul, and a new Heaven and Earth. 

SCIENCE

Useful Plants 


Finished our reading on the Sputnik Sensation, Space Race, the 1960s, the International Space Station, building the International Space Station,  and becoming a NASA Astronaut.  


Built her own mini space station.

FIELD TRIP


Easter egg hunt in the backyard.


They are very happy with their gifts. 


Picked up their Home Depot kits and built these cute bunny planters.  


Super happy to have finished their curriculums, they have definitely worked hard this year.  

CONCLUSION

Wow it's our last week of school, we will take a week off and then do lots of review work before their testing in May.  We have enjoyed this school year and learned a lot.  Looking forward to our break and taking it easy before starting 6th and 2nd grade in June.  This week we learned about how the church grows, Stephen and Saul, Peter in jail, and a New Heaven and Earth.  Also learned about Walter Raleigh, Jacques Cartier, Spain and England at war, different languages, translating the Bible, the lost colony, and the world at the end of the sixteenth century.  Read about space, the International Space Station, all about astronauts, the way they live in the space station, details of the space station, and more on plants and how we use them in our everyday lives.  Now to enjoy some time fall and relaxation before our review weeks leading to their test day.

Field Trip: Washington, D.C.

 FIELD TRIP:  WASHINGTON, D.C.

Took a trip with the family to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival.  Since we were there we took advantage and went to the World War II Memorial and Lincoln Memorial.  It was a great experience and time with the family and lots of learning during this trip.  Enjoy the pictures of our field trip.
