MFW:  1850 to Modern Times and Mia Prep Week 1 

We have officially started our new school year.  K will be going into 11th Grade and will be doing her school online via Mia Prep, and D will be going into 7th Grade and will continue with MFW: 1850 to Modern Times.  We are looking forward to this new school year.  This week we will learn about different states, colonial fares, into to Chemistry, and getting into the switch of things with K's classes.

Kids worked on introduction to Geometry, lines and angels unit introduction, algebraic expressions, multiplication, subtraction, addition, division, and fractions.




HISTORY

Learned about Pre-Columbian North America, all the 50 states, colonial fare, Northeast woodlands, Southeast woodlands, culture areas, exploration and conquest, the voyages of Columbus, exploring the New World, Spain's conquest, French and Dutch settlements, and Spain's exploration.






SCIENCE

Welcomed into Chemistry, Physics matter, forming the world, matter matters, in the beginning, everything matters, turn up the volume, mass matters, buoyancy basics, the golden rule, more on matter, luster matters, color may matter, more properties matters, the shape of matter, hardness matters, and the smell matters.

CONCLUSION

 MFW: WHL (10th Grade) and Exploration to 1850 (6th Grade) Week 31-34

This week we will be closing out the school year and combining the final 3 weeks into one.  Can't believe the kids are close to finishing 10th and 6th grade.  Time has felt like it went flying by, gotta say it has been a pretty tough school year, but the kids have pulled through every obstacle that came our way and have completed all their work.  So proud of their dedication, help throughout the year (especially with my health and all the surgeries I had to have), they have continued on pushing through.  We made it to the end of the school year.  We will be reviewing what we have learned throughout the school year, prepare for final exams, and finish our lessons in Botany, Algebra, and History.

LANGUAGE ARTS

Kids worked on writing, their final reports, spelling, Spanish, poems, and lots of reading.

MATH

Worked on Algebra, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, conversation units, and skip counting.
HISTORY

Reviewed lesson we've learned throughout the year, read about Eric Liddell, helping the poor, different countries, Mexico's story, Simon Bolivar, Latin America, the culture of the Masai, South Africa, technology and trade, middle east, history of keeping time, modern church, how Christianity changing the world, living in the modern world, becoming a world Christian, and eternity after this world.
SCIENCE

We reviewed what we have learned in Biology and Botany.  Finished and discussed their nature journals, explained the different steps of a nature journal: where and when, illustrations, sketches with labels, lists, descriptions, writing a poetry about nature, scripture and prayer.

Kids celebrated their 16th and 12th Birthdays.
