HISTORY

We had fun building the Tabernacle and putting it together, it was a lot easier than we thought.

Sections of the Tabernacle

Very proud of their hard work.

Coloring their pictures of the Tabernacle Treasures while I read them what each item means in the Tabernacle.

While we were in Target little man found a unicorn head and quickly said "Look mami I'm a horse like in my books."

After learning about horses we completed the Farm and Not Farm worksheet.

ART

Made a horse out of rectangle shapes, the TM said to curve them the edges but little man wanted to keep the rectangle shape for his horse.  He thought it made it look cooler.

While I read several books about horses he formed his own horse out of play-doh.

SCIENCE

Lesson 31: Land, Sea, and Plants

Kids got to observe the layers of dirt once the water settled in the jars.

They love collecting rocks and gems and sat down and observed them, picked out their favorites so we could look them under the microscope later.

Lesson 37: More dirt on Soil, they picked out several rocks and hammered the rocks to see how they looked inside.  It was neat to see how they look and also observe how some had more rocks inside them.

Once they picked out their favorite rocks we observed them under a microscope.

It's so neat to see the rocks up close.

Lesson 33: The Rock Cycle

Kids shaved down some crayons and then hammered the shavings (sedimentary rock: formed from bits of crayon sticking together to make something hard).

Observed the shavings (weathering the crayons just like rocks being weathered into tiny bits) and saw how soft they were.

After they observed the shavings we folded the shaving into the aluminum foil and held it over the candle.  After holding it over the fire for a minute we observed how it melted (metamorphic rock: there are places underground where it gets so hot that the rock actually melts, when the rock comes up to the surface it cools down and freezes, forming a solid rock.)  Once it cooled down the kids got to touch the wax and see how silky it felt.

Found these worksheets on Pinterest to help the kids better understand the different types of rocks and the rock cycle.

Little man got up (surprise since he is usually very shy), to say what is something good about him, he said "I like helping people."

The kids had their pictures with them to put on their picture frames, they were suppose to pick a picture that symbolized something important to them.  K picked one of our dog and her brother, and little man picked one with his dad.

We went to Defy Gravity (trampoline place) with our homeschool co-op group, one of the kids favorite field trips.

Always fun with their friends.
