MFW: ECC & K4 WEEK 7

We will start our studies on Canada this week.  Learn about the food chain, ecosystem, the letter Uu, number 7, oval shape, our body, feelings, and much more.




Traveling to Canada in their pajamas, comfort is key when traveling.

Made Food Chain Sharks to explain the process better, got this cute idea from Teachers Pay Teachers.



Coloring the Canadian flag.



Kids made their version of Inuit Carving: shark, house, and Kelvin the Robot.  This was a really fun process and we all had a blast making them.

GEOGRAPHY




Added the Canadian girl to our world map.

SCIENCE


Food Chain Activities:  Teachers Pay Teachers: Food Chain, the other one I found on Pinterest but don't remember the exact site.



While I read about the Food Chain in several of our books she colored in the worksheet (Education.Com pyramid worksheet).



Went on google to search for Food Chain images.



Kids got their eye exams done this week, which went great with what D was learning this week about his senses.



Five Senses: getting a massage and playing with play-doh.



They worked on their 5 senses lapbook, which I made several years ago for K when she was in Kindergarten.  



Talked about how God made each of us special, unique, and he loves us very much.  Great to remind the kids of how special they are and to always believe in themselves and love themselves just the way they are.



Set up several stations for the five senses for the kids to observe: Sight, Smell, Taste, Listen, and Touch.



Tasting and smelling several items while keeping their eyes closed and trying to guess what the item was.



Hearing and Touch game.



Talked about our body and the many different parts it has and its functions.



Talked about our feelings and learned them in Spanish too.



D wanted to make Skeletor dance and ride on Zeus.  Crazy Zeus always wants to be part of school and the center of attention.

NATURE WALK 




Went to a farm close to home for some homemade ice cream with my in-laws.



We always enjoy walking through the farm after enjoying our ice cream.

Watched the wonderful movie "Homeward Bound I & II", always enjoy watching these movies.

FIELD TRIP




Enjoyed some pool time at a friend's house.



He loves the water.

This week we started learning about Canada, food chain, ecosystem, the letter Uu, number 7, oval shape, and about our body parts and feelings.  Had a great week hanging out with family and friends.  So many different things we learned this week and enjoyed.  Unto next week to see whats in store for us.

MFW: ECC & K4 WEEK 6

This week we will continue our studies of Mexico, turtles, and desert.  Learn about the letter Tt, number 6, hexagon shape, and more writing practices.

She was a little scared to iron, since it has been awhile since she's used it, but she did really good.

GEOGRAPHY



Geography game



Looking through the books about Mexico.



Learning more about the day of the dead.



The coqui can be found in Mexico and different tropical islands, especially on the island of Puerto Rico (where are family is from).



This went great with our Mexico studies, two giant skulls were found in the mountains of Tapalpa in Mexico.

Learning about how desert animals keep water inside.

We didn't do any experiments this week but looked over pictures and videos of the desert.

NATURE WALK 



Observing the moon and stars through the telescope.

Watched a video on YouTube of some kids singing the song "Chi Chi Bud".



Listened to a cd we have and a video on YouTube of the "Coqui song".

FIELD TRIP



Our church is having Kids Krusade this week, we really enjoyed the first service.  The theme of the Krusade is "The Chosen", we are chosen by God.



Second night of the Krusade, K got to play a game and put the verse of the week in order: Joshua 1:9 "This is my command-be strong and courageous!  Do not be afraid or discouraged.  For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." 



Here Pastor Butch (who was my youth pastor growing up) was demonstrating how God takes away our sins after we ask him to forgive us.

SPECIAL EVENT



Father-Daughter Dance 



He surprised her with her favorite flowers before taking her to the dance.



Definitely a Night to Remember.

This has been a week of learning more about Mexico, turtles, desert, and reading.  We've enjoyed our time at church at the Kids Krusade, getting closer to God.  Love seeing how God is working in the kids and changing their hearts.  We have been blessed with a wonderful church that not only my husband and me grew up in but that my kids get to grow up in it too.  Now unto next week to see what's in store for us.
